About Dr. Tangredi
Ray Tangredi, MD
PSYCHIATRIST
Raised in Las Vegas, he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology with Honors from UNLV and his MD from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, before completing his psychiatric training at the UNLV Psychiatric Residency. Prior to specializing in psychiatry, Dr. Tangredi spent over 15 years in primary and urgent care. During his internship in internal medicine, he witnessed firsthand the devastating results of chronic alcoholism in his ICU work. This, combined with treating anxious, depressed, and psychologically distressed patients in urgent care, served as the passion for his career shift. Inspired to pivot, he returned to training at midlife to become a psychiatrist and then completed a subspecialty in Addiction Psychiatry at OHSU in Portland.
Dr. Tangredi has a diverse clinical background which includes work in addiction rehabs and treatment centers. He is experienced in treating Opiate Use Disorders, including the clinical application of Suboxone and other types of MAT (medication assisted treatment) for various addictions. He has also practiced in the field of Eating Disorders in both residential and partial hospitalization programs. Most recently he worked with the seriously mentally ill for the State of Nevada, before deciding to start his outpatient community private practice. His treatment philosophy was initially born in urgent care, often seeing some patients arrive as the “worried well” uncertain of the answer to what help they needed that day. In psychiatry this evolved into seeing himself as a partner in his patients’ journeys, working as part of “the triad” with the patient, the therapist and himself to determine if they require medication intervention, lifestyle prescriptions and development of coping skills, or at times both. This client-centered focus led him to Neubauer, where he will collaborate within a therapeutic environment of over 30 therapists to ensure well-rounded care.
A dedicated prescriber, Dr. Tangredi remains at the forefront of prescribing options in his field. He attends the country’s preeminent annual psychopharmacology conference in Las Vegas to take heart of the newest, most evidence based medications for his practice. This ensures his patients will receive effective pharmacological treatments to achieve stability and wellness.
